namasté, my childrenYoga. because punching people is frowned upon.Ok so - new obsession confession. I knew about yoga sure, but, it was only a glassdoor view, never bothered to step inside and try it for myself. I even thought it was a little cliche, a little silly, a bit pointless. My father had tried to get me into meditation many times before, but I suppose I just wasn't at the point in my life or maturity to truly appreciate all that it can do for your body and mind and inner peace with yourself. Due to some very crappy circumstances, I'd previously felt as if my life was weighing down on me, trying to push me down and keep me pinned until I refused to get up and go on. I was searching for some way to cope, and regular exercise just wasn't doing it. I needed to fill the odd emptiness for whom's cause escaped me. And so, I finally turned to try and take part in this wonderful phenomenon of self exploration and mind bending. Yoga isn't about touching your toes. It's about what you learn on the way down. Many people choose to try yoga for many differing reasons - and that's perfectly okay, They may come for a good stretch, for the flexibility they never had. They may come for their friends who convinced them to give it a go, to take part in the sharing and social support one might find in a group of yogis practicing together. Or they may come for refuge from the many hardships of life like depression, anxiety, fear, or stress like I had. Yoga is instant diversity of the mind and heart, and no matter your path you will be aided on your journey if you stick through. Beginners don't really need a whole lot of gear for what you start with. Even if you do happen to be very in shape, or extremely flexible, start very simple. Yoga isn't as much about the strengthening of your body as it is of your spirit, and thus the reason why one shouldn't skip to a more advanced level as their mind won't be on the same skill plane.
